MUY Brands, LLC was founded by Jim Bodenstedt in 2003 when the company originally acquired 18 existing Taco Bell and KFC restaurants in West Texas and Corpus Christi. In October 2004 MUY Brands, LLC acquired 4 additional seasoned KFC & Taco Bell restaurants in Wichita Falls, Texas. In June 2005 15 existing Pizza Hut restaurants in South Texas were acquired by MUY Pizza, LLC. In late 2005 MUY Brands, LLC acquired another 9 Long John Silver’s Restaurants in its core Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley markets and in early 2006, MUY Brands, LLC purchased another 9 existing Taco Bell Restaurants in Amarillo, Texas, in early 2007 acquired 32 Pizza Huts in El Paso and Corpus Christi, in mid 2008 acquired 15 LJS and A&W's, in late 2008 acquired 30 additional LJS and A&W’s, and in 2010 acquired 108 Pizza Hut's in San Antonio, Houston, and South Texas, which established the company as one of the Top 5 Yum Brands Inc.'s Franchisees.

Previously, Mr. Bodenstedt served as COO and CFO of R&L Foods Inc., a 30 restaurant franchisee of Taco Bell and KFC restaurants in Central and Southern Texas. Since 2003, Mr. Bodenstedt has been the CEO and President of MUY Brands, LLC. Mr. Bodenstedt has been responsible for managing over 7,000 MUY Brands, LLC and 1,000 R&L employees including all restaurant operations, marketing, and financing, as well as new restaurant development and remodeling including 34 new restaurants with YUM Brands, Inc. concepts.

Steve Adkins
VP of Operations (A&W, KFC, LJS, and Taco Bell), Partner

After serving in the United States Air Force, Mr. Adkins started his career in the restaurant business in 1987 as an Assistant Manager with R & L Foods, Inc./DBA Taco Bell. Mr. Adkins advanced to various leadership positions within the company and in two consecutive years, Mr. Adkins earned the award of “Restaurant Manager of the Year.” Mr. Adkins became the Company Training Manager responsible for training all salaried managers and later held the position of District Manager in charge of 13 Taco Bell restaurants throughout San Antonio and San Marcos, Texas.
 
In 1997, Mr. Adkins joined Desert De Oro Inc., located in Phoenix, Arizona as the Market Manager with the responsibility of leading the operations of Taco Bell restaurants. During his tenure with Desert De Oro Inc., Mr. Adkins was instrumental in growing the business from 13 to 33 restaurants.
 
In January of 2001, Mr. Adkins returned to San Antonio as the Director of Operations for R&L Foods, Inc. Mr. Adkins has the additional responsibility of marketing, financial planning, facility maintenance, new builds, restaurant remodels as well as people development and training. Since this time Mr. Adkins has become the Vice President of Operations for both R & L Foods, Inc. and MUY Brands L.L.C. Both companies are part of the Top 50 YUM Brands, Inc. franchise organization. The first organization, R & L Foods, Inc. consists of 30 locations (9 Taco Bells, 5 KFC’s and 16 Multi-branded KFC/Taco Bell restaurants). The second company, MUY Brands L.L.C. is located throughout Texas and consists of 70 locations (10 Taco Bells, 5 KFC’s, 30 Long John Silver’s as well as 25 multi-branded KFC/Taco Bell/LJS/A&W restaurants).

 
Jim Mooney
VP of Operations (Pizza Hut and WingStreet), Partner

Mr. Mooney is the Vice President of Operations for MUY Pizza. He has served in that position since the Company formation in 2005. His responsibilities include marketing, financial planning and forecasting, management of day-to-day operations, store maintenance, remodels and people development. In addition to his role with MUY Pizza, Mr. Mooney has been the Director of Operations for R&L Foods’ 30 unit Pizza Hut subsidiary, Four B Pizza since 2002.

His prior work experience includes his job as Owner/Operator of Frozen Custard Company from 1999 to 2002. His senior operations management career in the quick service restaurant industry began in 1977 as an Area General Manager for NPC International, the nation’s largest Pizza Hut franchisee. In 1989, he was promoted to Regional Manager and worked in that position until he left in 1999.

Mr. Mooney earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State University. He also has over 20 years of industry related management training, professional Coursework and seminars to his credit.


Dawson Bremer

Mr. Bremer is responsible for legal issues related to operations of the MUY restaurants and properties.

Mr. Bremer started with MUY Brands LLC in February 2011 after 9 years as a partner at Barton, East & Caldwell, P.L.L.C. For the last 3 years, Mr. Bremer has handled the majority of MUY Brands and its affiliates real estate, financing and corporate legal work.

Mr. Bremer graduated from Texas A&M University in 1986 with a Civil Engineering degree and then served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Civil Engineering Officer. After his service, Mr. Bremer received a J.D. degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1994.


John Haynie

Mr. Haynie oversees all of the accounting and financial control functions at the Company. In addition to his responsibilities for MUY Pizza, he is also the CFO for MUY Brands and the CFO for R&L Foods.

Prior to joining R&L Foods, Mr. Haynie worked with the Excelsior Hotel Group in Little Rock, Arkansas for six years as Assistant Controller and later as Controller. Prior to that, he worked with Marriott Hotels for 12 years in several positions including Auditor to Controller.

He is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.



Grant Stewart

Mr. Stewart is responsible for employee benefits, recruiting, training & development, workers comp, labor relations, employee concerns, compensation, maintaining employee data, payroll, and oversees the operation of the home office in San Antonio. His accountabilities include Human Resource support for 5,000+ employees to include 177 restaurants (KFC, LJS, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and WingStreet), the Pizza Hut call center that seats 200+ employees, 24 District Managers, 17+ Maintenance Personnel, and 20+ employees at the Restaurant Support Center (the home office in San Antonio, Texas).

Mr. Stewart started with R&L Foods, Inc. and MUY Brands L.L.C. after a 17 year career with Pizza Hut Corporate. He started with Pizza Hut as an Assistant Manager out of Houston, Texas in June of 1991. He was promoted to a Restaurant General Manager in less than a year and was recognized with several Sales Growth, Profit Growth, and various Service awards also to include “Rookie Manager of the Year” and “Manager of the Year” during his time in this position. After four years as a Restaurant General Manager/Restaurant Training Manager, he was promoted to an Area Manager in Houston, Texas where he managed and successfully led one of the highest profiting areas in the country for several years. During his time in this position, his accomplishments included “Area Coach of the Year” and the Pizza Hut President’s prestigious “Cheese Head” award. His track record of consistent performance, passion for people, and operational excellence gained him a promotion in 2006 to Restaurant Readiness Coach/Director of Operations Designate at the Restaurant Support Center in Dallas, Texas. As part of the Readiness team, Grant worked on many special projects, company initiatives, and supported over 6,000+ company and franchise restaurants. He also worked in a newly created position to support the growing franchise community as a Franchise Training Coach.

Mr. Stewart co-founded G&S Restaurants L.L.C. in 2006 and opened up a franchisee in Humble, Texas. The full service restaurant and bar was called Rockin’ Baja Lobster.

Mr. Stewart earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State University (formerly known as Southwest Texas State University) in May of 1991.



Dan Karam

Mr. Karam is responsible for managing the company’s Information Technology strategy, architecture, support, and governance. His accountabilities include the technology for all of the company’s restaurants, a 250-seat Pizza Hut Call Center, 34 above-store leaders, and the company’s Restaurant Support Center. In addition to his responsibilities for MUY Brands LLC and MUY Pizza LLC, Mr. Karam has the same responsibilities for R&L Foods, Inc., a 30-store Yum franchisee.

Prior to joining MUY Brands, Mr. Karam worked for 13 years with United Services Automobile Association (USAA), a Fortune 500 financial services company that offers banking, investing, and insurance to people and families that serve, or served, in the United States military. At USAA, Mr. Karam was an I/T Lead Network Analyst in the Network Services department. His main responsibility was providing Level 3 Support for the company's Cisco-based network, as well as the company's e-commerce website (USAA.com). In addition to providing Level 3 Support, Mr. Karam performed various project management, implementation, and supervisory duties.

Mr. Karam graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 1997 with a BBA in Information Systems. He later graduated from UTSA in 2001 with a Master’s of Science in Information Technology.
